Jaani Dushaman was a horror movie in 1979 directed by Raj Kumar Kohli. In those days this was a great concept. It was a multi starer Bollywood top stars like  Sunil Dutt, Sanjay Kumar, Rekha, Shatrughan Sinha, Jeetendra and Neetu Singh. Amrish Puri and Reena Roy also played a key roles in this movie.

Jwala Prasad is going to marry his dream girl. On the day of marriage he turns into a big monster shape and kills the bride who is wearing a red saree. Later he kills many brides who are wearing red colour sarees and her lovers before the marriage.

One girl kills this monster at a temple. But the soul occupies another guy’s body and turns into its first shape. Police men fail to kill this ghost and it continues its blood sport.

Many directors planned sequel to this movie but nothing went onto the sets.

Dostana (1980)

Dostana (1980) one of the biggest hit for that year. Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha were played the lead roles. Karan Johar‘s father Yash Johar produced this movie under his Dharma Productions banner.

Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) and Ravi ( Shatrughan Sinha) are best friends. Vijay is police officer and Ravi is a lawyer. They never questions each other if any one of them does a mistake.

Both of them meets a girl Sheetal ( Zeenat Aman ). Both friends falls for her charming beauty. When Vijay notices that, Ravi also has interest about Sheetal, he sacrifices his love. Daaga (Prem Chopra) who is trying to separate this friends, utilises this chances.

He shows Vijay and Sheetal’s photo to Ravi. It makes Ravi anger and he argues with Vijay.

Remaining story about how this friends reunited and who married Sheetal. Raj Khosla has directed this movie.

Mere Apna

Mere Apne was a classic movie in 1971 from the legend director Gulzar. This movie gave a great break to Vinod Khanna, after this movie success, he has started his journey to become a super star. Meena Kumari played the lead role in this movie. mere-apne-wallpaper

Anandi (Meena Kumari) is a widow lives in a small village. One day his relative Arun Gupta (Ramesh Deo) visits her and asks her to come and join with his family. She agrees happily and goes to city where Arun’s family lives. But very soon she finds the difference between the city and village. She also notices that, Arun’s family treating her as their maid. She comes out from that house and lives with orphan children.

Salil Chaudhary gave ever green music for this movie, after forty years also, people enjoyed that music. Shatrughan Sinha played another key role for this movie.

Sholay

Ramesh Sippy created history in Indian cinema when he made Sholay.  With unforgettable characters, dialogues that packed a punch and with an array of emotions, one could hardly go wrong.

Set in arid Ramanagaram, it immortalised Gabbar Singh, Thakur Baldev Singh, Veeru, Radha, Basanti and Jai.

Amjad Khan as Gabbar Singh. The character was based on a real life dacoit who was a meance in Gwalior. Danny Denzongpa was the first choice for Gabbar Singh.

Released on August 15th 1975, Sholay went on to be voted the Film of the Millenium by BBC India.

The movie was supposed to have been ‘inspired’ by an earlier release Bindiya Aur Bandook. It was written by Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar and produced by G.P.Sippy.

Jai and Veeru are two thieves and best buds whose path crosses with a police officer Thakur Baldev Singh. They are later hired by Singh to get rid of the dacoit Gabbar Singh. When they are not wreaking havoc in Gabbar’s life, Jai falls in love with Singh’s widowed daughter-in-law Radha and Veeru falls in love with Basanti, who drives a horse cart.

The music was composed by R.D Burman and Kishore Kumar and Manna Dey singing Yeh Dosti.
