Kalapani is a Bollywood movie directed by Raj Khosla. This is his most notable movie. Before this he directed super hit film C.I.D. He followed the same style in direction which he followed for C.I.D. Dev Anand was the hero in both movies.


He maintained suspense until the climax. The story revolves around a young guy Karan Mehra who is living with his widowed mother. One day he knows that his mother is not a widow and his father is in prison in Hyderabad for killing a prostitute Mala. He travels to Hyderabad and meets his father. He starts to dig the case. While he is attempting to solve the case his girlfriend misunderstands him. But at the end the truth comes out.


Dev Anand and Nalini Jayawant received Filmfare awards. Madhu Bala featured as the heroine. Asha Bhonsle sang songs for this movie in S.D Burman‘s music direction.After this movie’s success Raj Khosla became a very promising director and later directed  star heroes like Sunil Dutt, Dharamendra and Amitabh Bachchan

Vijay Anand’s Guide which was released in 1965 is one of Dev Anand’s most famous movies.  It was based on the novel Guide by R.K Narayan. The movie won many awards.

It was the story of  a smooth talking tourist guide Raju (Dev Anand) who cons people. He meets a woman Rosie (Waheeda Rahman) who is unhappily married and dreams of being an dancer and singer. Everyone turns hostile when they find out about his relationship with Rosie.  He helps her realise her dreams. She gets rich and he squanders her money in gambling. He gets caught in a case of fraudulence and loses everything.


Once out of jail, he becomes Swami Raju and when the village is hit by famine, they call on him to perform a miracle.

The movie also had some brilliant music like Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai by Lata Mangeshkar and a duet by Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar, Gaata Rahe Mera Dil.
