Raj (Raj Kapoor) walks to Mumbai from Allahabad to earn and live some good life. There he meets a poor girl called Vidya (Nargis). Both of them falls in love with each other.
After few days, Raj attracts towards the short cut ways to earn money like card gambler. Vidya tries to change him but fails. Later he realises himself and starts working hard.
